A preamp tube-driven distortion pedal that enables guitarists to find that true breakup they’re so often searching for, without having to push amps to unbearable volume levels. The on-board three band EQ allows for bucket loads of tonal variety, whilst the option to polish your sound with a tightness control also exists. If that isn’t enough, you also have a separate foot switchable boost that has independent level and boost controls too! Complete freedom to create the sounds that you want.
Whether you play at home, record in a studio or perform live, rest-assured that the MTG Distortion pedal will soon be a staple on many boards. It was co-designed with the one and only Bruce Egnater (who has worked with artists such as Steve Vai, Phil Collen, Chris Poland, Kirk Hammett and many more) and tested by musicians. After several rounds of feedback and iterations the MTG was born.
The MTG Tube Distortion is packed full of features that you can both hear and see. It is an all-original Fender circuit, the chassis is crafted from lightweight, durable anodized aluminium, and the Amp Jewel LED gives your pedalboard the classic Fender look. Not to mention the cool subtle features and attention to detail that has become synonymous with the success of the Fender brand. You’ll find the ability to control the LEDs too.
Here's what Fender say about the MTG Tube Distortion
Many pedals try to emulate the sound of tube breakup; we decided instead of emulating tube distortion, we’d use actual vacuum tubes and give you the real deal in a compact pedal. The heart of the MTG’s design is a NOS (New Old Stock) US-made 6205 preamp tube. 3-Band EQ with Tight control and switchable boost—with its own Level and Boost controls—makes it easy to dial-in just the right sound.
Co-designed with Bruce Egnater, the MTG Tube Distortion is an all-original Fender circuit. To ensure this pedal is performance-ready we let musicians kick it around, took their feedback to heart and refined it. The chassis is crafted from lightweight, durable anodized aluminium, and the Amp Jewel LED gives your pedalboard the classic Fender look. The LED-backlit knobs show your control settings on a dark stage at a glance.
Use the MTG Tube Distortion on your next gig or session to bring the sound of true tube breakup to your rig.

Fender is an iconic American musical instrument brand, widely recognised for its legendary guitars, amplifiers, and effects pedals. Founded in 1946 by Leo Fender, the company has shaped the sound of modern music with staples like the Stratocaster, Telecaster, and Precision Bass. Fender’s effects pedals, such as the renowned Fender Overdrive and the Fender Phaser, continue their tradition of offering versatile, high-quality tone-shaping tools. Distortion
A distortion pedal is a type of guitar effects pedal used to add gain, saturation, and harmonic distortion to the guitar signal, resulting in a more aggressive and gritty tone. Distortion pedals are widely used across various music genres, particularly in rock, metal, punk, and alternative styles, to achieve heavier and more intense guitar tones.
Here are the key features and functions of a distortion pedal:
1. **Gain (or Drive)**: The gain control adjusts the amount of distortion applied to the guitar signal. Increasing the gain setting increases the level of saturation and overdrive, resulting in a more distorted and aggressive tone. Lower gain settings produce a cleaner sound with less distortion.
2. **Tone**: The tone control adjusts the frequency response of the distorted signal, allowing you to tailor the tonal characteristics of the distortion effect. Depending on the pedal, the tone control may boost or cut specific frequency ranges, such as bass, midrange, or treble, to shape the overall sound.
3. **Level (or Output)**: The level control adjusts the overall output volume of the distorted signal. This allows you to match the level of the distorted signal with the rest of your effects chain or amplifier, ensuring consistent volume levels when engaging the pedal.
4. **Mode (or Voice)**: Some distortion pedals feature multiple modes or voicings that offer different types of distortion or gain characteristics. These modes may include options such as “Vintage,” “Modern,” or “High Gain,” each providing a distinct tonal flavor and level of saturation.
Distortion pedals offer several benefits and creative uses for guitarists:
– **Increased Gain and Sustain**: By adding gain and saturation to the guitar signal, distortion pedals increase the overall volume and sustain of the instrument, allowing notes and chords to ring out longer and with more intensity.
– **Tonal Shaping**: Distortion pedals often include tone controls that allow you to shape the frequency response of the distorted signal. This allows you to dial in the desired amount of bass, midrange, and treble to suit your playing style and musical preferences.
– **Emphasis of Harmonics**: Distortion pedals emphasize the harmonics and overtones present in the guitar signal, resulting in a richer, more complex tone with added depth and character. This can make lead lines and solos stand out and cut through the mix more effectively.
– **Versatility and Flexibility**: Distortion pedals come in a wide range of styles and voicings, from mild overdrive to high-gain distortion. This versatility allows you to choose a pedal that best suits your playing style, musical genre, and tonal preferences.
Overall, distortion pedals are essential tools for guitarists seeking to achieve heavier, more aggressive, and saturated tones. Whether used subtly to add warmth and edge to clean tones or used more aggressively to create crushing distortion, distortion pedals can enhance your guitar tone and bring new dimensions to your playing.

Pedal
A pedal is an electronic device that alters the sound of an electric guitar by applying various effects. Pedals are typically connected in a series between the guitar and amplifier, allowing guitarists to switch effects on and off with their feet while playing.
This enables musicians to quickly and easily change their sound, adding versatility and creativity to their performances.
Pedals are essential tools in many musical genres, including rock, blues, jazz, and metal, allowing artists to craft distinctive and dynamic soundscapes.
Once you buy one, you can’t stop and then you have to sell them and buy more.
Tube
Tube-sounding guitar effect pedals are celebrated for their ability to replicate the warm, rich, and dynamic tones associated with classic vacuum tube amplifiers.
These pedals emulate the natural harmonic distortion and compression produced by tube circuitry, which adds depth and character to the guitar’s sound. This results in a more organic and engaging tone with a pleasingly smooth overdrive that many musicians find desirable.
The warmth and complexity of tube emulation can enhance both subtle nuances and powerful lead tones, making it ideal for genres that favour vintage or classic sounds.
Tube-sounding pedals often provide greater responsiveness to playing dynamics, allowing for expressive performance variations based on how hard or softly you play.
This dynamic sensitivity ensures that the pedal’s effect adjusts naturally with your playing style, preserving the nuances of your technique. The harmonic richness and clarity achieved through these pedals offer a more detailed and full-bodied sound, which helps in achieving a distinctive tone that stands out in both live performances and studio recordings.
Despite the higher cost and occasional maintenance needs, the unique tonal qualities of tube-sounding pedals make them a favoured choice for guitarists seeking an authentic and versatile sound.
