High-Five! The High-Five from Mr Black is an instant power chord generator pedal that is encased in a shining chrome powder coat. This is especially cool with distortion and/or for lead tones! Just dial in the level you’d like for your dry signal, then rotate your 5th and Oct controls to the level and direction you’d like your transposed notes to perform!

Key Features

  • Simple Controls – Instantly dial the exact tone you need quickly, so you have more time for playing!
  • True Bypass – Fear no loss of signal in your signal chain with true bypass.

Controls

Three simple and intuitive controls allow you to dial in the output level of your dry signal, your octave (either high or low), and your natural fifth (either 5 notes above, or 4 notes below) giving you an instant power chord from one single note!

Output levels: -∞dB – +3dB for each voice, with subtle and gentle flutter recreating the natural resonance and intermodulation of a strong power-chord.

Hand-built

Like all Mr. Black pedals, the Mr. Black High-Five is hand-built, one at a time, using exclusively premium components.

Specifications

Power with either an internal 9V battery (not included) or your choice of “industry standard” 9VDC pedal power, consuming approximately 59mA @ 9VDC.

Brand

Mr. Black

In the current JustPedals catalogue, Mr. Black is represented by Reverb Pedals, Chorus Pedals and Flanger Pedals. Current listings include Mr Black Analog Tremolo, Mr Black SuperMoon Reverb and Mr Black Shepards End Flanger. That makes the range relevant to players looking for drive, gain and clipping, plus time-based effects and ambience. Check each model for its exact circuit or processing platform, controls, power requirements and connections, particularly where the catalogue includes both pedals and supporting gear.

Category

Specialist Effects Pedals

Specialist effects alter the signal in ways that do not sit cleanly inside one established family. They may use granular processing, frequency shifting, resonators, freeze or sustain, bit reduction, ring modulation, feedback networks or combinations of several techniques. The relevant distinction is the underlying process, its tracking or latency, and how completely the dry signal can be blended or replaced.

Tags

Battery Powered

Can operate from an internal replaceable battery, usually with different available current and running time from an external supply. Battery chemistry, access and automatic disconnection through the input socket affect practical runtime and storage. High-current digital processing generally shortens battery life more sharply than a simple analogue circuit.

True Bypass

True bypass removes the effect circuit from the audio path when bypassed, usually by mechanical, relay or switching circuitry. This can preserve the direct signal but does not automatically solve long-cable loading, and it may create a pop or leave no buffer for the rest of the board. Check the actual switching method, trails or spillover, input and output loading and the number of other true-bypass pedals in the chain.

Vocal

Vocal products process a microphone signal with harmony, reverb, delay, doubling, pitch correction, distortion or tone shaping. Microphone type, phantom-power handling, input gain, footswitch control and balanced output are as important as the effect list. Check key or scale settings, monitoring, feedback control, dry-signal routing and the intended PA or interface connection before using a vocal effect on stage.
