Description

The Beekeeper is a hand-built guitar preamp in a pedal, featuring two vacuum tubes running at high voltage, giving a very responsive feel and tonal quality.

Its design is inspired by the famous ODS circuit, usually associated with the signature sound of many legendary guitar players. The result of this is a sparkling clean tone, which is gradually pushed into a smooth, rich, and touch-sensitive overdrive as you crank up the gain.

Key Features

  • All ECC83 Power – It’s equipped with a pair of ECC83 tubes operating at full 250VDC
  • True Bypass – With true bypass, you can be sure your signal will be clean when the pedal is not in use.

There are several ways to integrate the Beekeeper into your rig: it can be connected to the other pedals on a pedalboard, into the front end of an amp, or directly into a power amp or FX-return input.

The Beekeeper is a very “amp-like” pedal and responds accordingly. It’s not just a simple “stomp and go” pedal – some exploration is required to reveal its true potential.

The Beekeeper is operating off a standard 12VDC voltage. This voltage is boosted inside the pedal up to 280VDC for the proper operation and the best performance of the vacuum tubes.

Preamp

A preamp pedal shapes and boosts your guitar’s signal before it reaches your amp or recording interface, giving you control over tone, gain, and headroom. It acts as the first stage of amplification, adding warmth, clarity, and character while preparing your signal for the next part of the chain. Some preamps emulate the response of classic valve circuits, while others offer clean, transparent tone shaping ideal for acoustic instruments or direct recording setups.

Used on its own, a preamp pedal can serve as the foundation of your tone, providing a consistent core sound wherever you play. When combined with other effects, it enhances dynamics and helps each pedal sound more defined and natural. Whether you’re looking to push your amp harder, bring life to a dull signal, or refine your sound for the studio, a good preamp pedal adds presence, punch, and musicality to any rig.
