The Keeley Electronics Germanium Compressor and Boost Pedal is a 25th anniversary compressor that builds on Keeleys familiar Compressor Plus design with a carefully selected germanium stage. Working as a buffer and tone-shaping stage the germanium transistor softens harsh highs supports sustain and bloom and gives distorted signals a warmer less brittle character. Its saturation remains pleasing and responsive without adding noise or sacrificing headroom helping the pedal integrate naturally with the rest of your board. Four controls give you detailed command over the response from a gentle squeeze to full squash. Level balances output and can reclaim lost gain or push the pedal into a boost while Blend mixes compressed and uncompressed signals to retain picking dynamics. Comp increases compression ratio and sustain while Tone moves from dark and thick to bright and open. A Single Coil / Humbucker switch adjusts recovery speed for your pickups while selectable true bypass or buffered operation adds flexible pedalboard integration.

Keeley Electronics

Robert Keeley began by modifying effects for guitarists and built the first Keeley Compressor while pursuing more useful control over dynamics and sustain. The Oklahoma City company now designs, builds, tests and refines its effects there, with a range spanning compression, overdrive, fuzz, pitch, delay and reverb. The Compressor remains its best-known family. JustPedals listings also include the Mk3 Driver, Octa Psi pitch shifter and fuzz, Manis overdrive and Nocturne reverb. Keeley’s work often adds practical controls to familiar circuit ideas, such as pickup-sensitive release settings on its compressor pedals.

Compressor Pedals

Compression reduces the difference between louder and quieter parts of the signal. It can restrain peaks, lift decaying notes and make picking feel more even, but strong settings also change the attack and add audible sustain or pumping. Threshold, ratio, attack, release and blend determine when gain reduction begins, how firmly it acts and how much natural transient detail remains.

Tags

Boost

Raises signal level and may also reshape the frequency balance before the next stage. A clean boost preserves the waveform until headroom is exceeded, while coloured designs emphasise particular frequencies or add mild clipping that changes how later gain stages respond.

True Bypass

Connects input directly to output through mechanical or relay switching when the effect is off, removing the active circuit from the audio path. It avoids buffer colour but leaves cable capacitance and switching design to influence high-frequency loss and possible switching noise.
