The Seven Verbs IRs

The Verbs stompbox captures some of the most interesting and exciting places on earth for you to play through. You can select from seven different reverb settings, each with eight IR presets capturing what it would be like to play your sound in places like the Basilica in Barcelona or the Capricornia Caves. Here is what settings you can play with on the Verbs:

  • Pool of the Blackstar – Produce incredible spacious reverb, giving you the longest reverb in the world. Experience what it would be like to play in the Pool of the Blackstar, in the Tvisongur Sound Sculpture, the Inchindown Oil Tanks, the Hamilton Mausoleum, and the Konig Otto.
  • Capricornia Caves – This mode gives you the feeling of playing in natural cave systems or the vast industrial-ness of a nuclear reactor for an out-of-this-world reverb experience. Settings 1-8 give you the Capricornia Caves, Innocent Railway Tunnel, Poly HQ, the R1 Nuclear Reactor Hall, a T2 Hangar, and a Civil War Bunker.
  • Santa Lucia Basilica – This Verb captures religious buildings from around the world, capturing the feeling of having high ceilings and long halls, for a holy moly reverb effect. Within this mode, the eight settings are the Santa Lucia Basilica, the Pantheon of Rome, York Minster, The Knight’s Hall, St Alban’s Cathedral Lady Chapel, St. George’s Episcopal Church, St. Patrick’s Church, and St. Matthews’s Church.
  • Echo Plates – Gives you a vintage and iconic analogue reverb plate from the famous EMT140.
  • Analogue Device – Another vintage analogue tone, this mode gives you a classic spring reverb and oil can device for a vintage vibe through your amp.
  • Irregular Verbs – An unusual, yet natural bubbling sound that generates granular textures in your tone.
  • Adverbs – A collection of neolithic monumental reverb soundscapes that act as the default verb sound. You can even download more reverb modes from inspiring locations around the world, directly from Poly effects’s website!

Endless Possibilities

Thanks to the Verbs low cut/high pass filter on the send to the reverb, you will receive high frequencies going through your reverb sonic landscape, overall giving you a classic Beatles-like sound. You can change the preset values from MIDI, giving you complete control and customisation over your Poly Effects Verbs pedal. The ability to instantly control the crescendo with footswitch A, as well as toggle the bypass and control preset change with footswitch B allows you to harness the true power of Verbs.

‘Verb of Choice

The Verbs has quickly become a spacey pedalboard go-to. It makes regular appearances on Lee’s board, and is now doing the rounds with artists like Seal, Pixies, Josh Smith, Calexico, and more. That’s pretty good company. And with the ability to expand the Verbs with their growing library of incredible spaces, this little stompbox will likely continue going places…

Reverb — A reverb pedal is like the rich sauce that ties every flavour on the plate into one smooth experience. It adds depth, warmth, and atmosphere — the sonic equivalent of a perfectly reduced glaze that lingers on the tongue. Whether you’re after the subtle ambience of a cosy café (spring or plate reverb) or the grand echoes of a cathedral (hall or shimmer reverb), this is where your tone breathes and expands. A touch of reverb can turn a dry sound into something lush and inviting — but pour on too much, and it’s all you can taste. Used with finesse, it’s the finishing touch that transforms your tone from plain to unforgettable..
