Description

The Electro Harmonix Pitch Fork Polyphonic Pitch Shifter Pedal is currently retailing at £159 and it is in stock. Available to be delivered to you by post direct (some charge may apply). The team at Just Pedals think that Electro Harmonix nailed it with the Electro Harmonix Pitch Fork Polyphonic Pitch Shifter Pedal.

The Electro Harmonix Pitch Fork is an incredibly diverse polyphonic pitch shifting pedal that has a 3 octave range. You can shift your guitar sound up, down or both at the same time with the Pitch Fork, whether you would like to control it continuously with an expression pedal or at set intervals using the 11 position 'Shift' switch.

3 Octaves of Pitch Shifting

You have a lot of control over this pedal and just how much shifting you want on your sound. Everything from a 17 cent detune that works great for adding a different feel to your sound, to 3 octaves above or below and a wide choice between. The Pitch Fork also features Dual mode where it selects a harmony for the interval you have chosen for example you could get a perfect 5th above and 1 octave below from a single pedal.

You don't just get set pitches with the Pitch Fork though. When you plug in a expression pedal in latch mode you can control the pitch continuously so you get exactly what you want every time. This particular trick can also be used to create whammy like effects that increase your pitch shift the further you push the expression pedal.

Latch and Momentary Control

You have two main modes of operation with the Pitch Fork, Latch and Momentary. When in latch mode you turn the effect on and off using the footswitch and you can control the pitch with an external expression pedal to go from no effect to what ever interval you have selected on the 'Shift' switch.

In Momentary control mode the effect is only on if you hold down the built in footswitch. When you release the footswitch it goes back to your standard non effected sound. While in the momentary mode you can control the Glissando rate from 4 milliseconds to 2 seconds with an external expression pedal.

Here's what Electro Harmonix say about the Pitch Fork:

The Pitch Fork transposes an instrument's pitch over a +/- three octave range and features three modes which allow the pitch to be transposed up, down or both, simultaneously. The pitch shift amount can be set to a fixed interval or continuously varied by an expression pedal or control voltage.

The controls are straightforward and intuitive. An 11-position Shift switch selects the maximum transposition interval ranging from D (Detune), a shift of 17 cents, through Minor 2nd, Major 2nd, Major 3rd, Perfect 4th, Perfect 5th, Major 6th, Minor 7th, 1 Octave, 2 Octaves and 3 Octaves. A three position toggle switch controls whether the pitch is transposed up, down or both. In Dual mode, two pitch-shifted signals are output. One follows the shift knob as if in the Up position while the other creates a harmony. Dual Mode settings include M3 up + P5 up, P5 up + 1 Oct down, 1 Oct up + 1 Oct down and many others. A Blend knob controls the mix of the dry signal and the effected signal, and an EXP jack enabl

Pitch

Pitch effects alter the pitch of a guitar’s signal, allowing guitarists to create unique sounds and textures. There are several types of pitch effects, each with its own characteristics and applications:

1. **Pitch Shifter**: Pitch shifters allow guitarists to shift the pitch of their notes up or down by a set interval, such as an octave or a specific number of semitones. This effect can be used to create harmonies, emulate multiple instruments playing together, or thicken the sound of a single guitar.

2. **Octave**: Octave pedals generate tones one or two octaves above or below the original signal. They can be used to create thick, bass-like sounds, emulate 12-string guitars, or add a unique texture to guitar solos.

3. **Whammy**: Whammy pedals, inspired by the Whammy Bar found on many electric guitars, allow players to bend the pitch of their notes up or down in real-time. They can create dramatic pitch bends, dive bombs, or emulate the sound of a pedal steel guitar.

4. **Harmonizer**: Harmonizer pedals analyze the incoming signal and generate harmonized notes based on a selected key and interval. They can be used to create rich, layered harmonies, emulate vocal harmonies, or add depth to guitar solos.

5. **Detune**: Detune effects slightly shift the pitch of the guitar’s signal up and down, creating a chorus-like effect. This can add thickness and depth to the sound, similar to a chorus pedal, but with a more subtle and natural-sounding modulation.

6. **Auto-Tune**: Auto-tune pedals automatically correct the pitch of the guitar’s signal to the nearest note in a selected key or scale. They can be used to ensure accurate tuning during performances or to create robotic, vocoder-like effects.

Pitch effects offer guitarists a wide range of creative possibilities, from subtle enhancements to radical transformations of their tone. Whether used to add depth and richness to chords, create otherworldly textures, or emulate the sound of multiple instruments, pitch effects can inspire new ideas and expand the sonic palette of the guitar.
