The secret behind this incredible functionality and tone lies in the design which was loosely based on the late 70s OD-808 just with some major upgrades. The Mid Enhance control lets you vary the amount of iconic mid-boost that Maxon overdrives provide while the Low Boost switch allows a rumbling low-end response with increased saturation thanks to an alternate set of clipping diodes. Add to this the pedal can operate at either 9V or 18; run at 9V for the classic 808 sound or switch to 18V for increased headroom improved dynamics and thicker chunkier overdriven textures. . Available from Just Pedals for only £ 169 Time to make those tubes scream The return of a fan-favourite. The Maxon ST-9 Pro+ Super Tube Pedal is an updated reissue of the beloved original Super Tube Screamer from the 80s. The original circuit was based off the OD-808 and OD-9 and was created to improve upon Maxons classic designs to offer increased functionality. This reissue looks to do the same again and drag the ST9 Pro+ kicking and (tube)screaming into the 21st century. The most popular TS modification has been integrated- true bypass switching. This ensures your tone isnt even slightly altered when the effect isnt engaged perfect for the tonal purists. The mid enhance switch lets you control the level of mid-boost often seen as the defining audible feature of Maxon overdrives. This gives you greater control over your overdrive timbre than ever before. Finally the Low Boost switch engages a switchable capacitor to increase bass response giving you deep powerful overdrive even in your low end. Demonstrating that versatility is key the ST-9 Pro+ lets you access the full range of overdriven tones from mild clean boost to rip-roaring thick dirt. The ability to quickly switch between 9V and 18V operation also means you can instantly access additional headroom and thicker overdrive at a moments notice. The high-quality construction and elite component choices ensure that whatever settings you choose the ST-9 Pro+ will sound rich and vibrant with excellent dynamic response and touch sensitivity. If you want an OD you can tweak to perfection the ST-9 Pro+ offers everything youre after. Pedal
A pedal is an electronic device that alters the sound of an electric guitar by applying various effects. Pedals are typically connected in a series between the guitar and amplifier, allowing guitarists to switch effects on and off with their feet while playing.
This enables musicians to quickly and easily change their sound, adding versatility and creativity to their performances.
Pedals are essential tools in many musical genres, including rock, blues, jazz, and metal, allowing artists to craft distinctive and dynamic soundscapes.
Once you buy one, you can’t stop and then you have to sell them and buy more.
Tube
Tube-sounding guitar effect pedals are celebrated for their ability to replicate the warm, rich, and dynamic tones associated with classic vacuum tube amplifiers.
These pedals emulate the natural harmonic distortion and compression produced by tube circuitry, which adds depth and character to the guitar’s sound. This results in a more organic and engaging tone with a pleasingly smooth overdrive that many musicians find desirable.
The warmth and complexity of tube emulation can enhance both subtle nuances and powerful lead tones, making it ideal for genres that favour vintage or classic sounds.
Tube-sounding pedals often provide greater responsiveness to playing dynamics, allowing for expressive performance variations based on how hard or softly you play.
This dynamic sensitivity ensures that the pedal’s effect adjusts naturally with your playing style, preserving the nuances of your technique. The harmonic richness and clarity achieved through these pedals offer a more detailed and full-bodied sound, which helps in achieving a distinctive tone that stands out in both live performances and studio recordings.
Despite the higher cost and occasional maintenance needs, the unique tonal qualities of tube-sounding pedals make them a favoured choice for guitarists seeking an authentic and versatile sound.
