Toggle Switches

Instead of having an attack knob, Wampler have made it very easy to find a useable compression threshold by simply having a slow or fast attack. A fast attack is what you would use for a spanky country tone or any fast riffing. The slow compression will provide a more natural feel, and by combining the slow attack with the blend knob you can really retain the dynamics of your playing and use the Ego to enhance that. The blend knob dials in compression on to your dry signal.

The other toggle is a tone control which will either be bright or dark and you can use that to match your guitars pickups. SO if you have bright singlecoils and want to tame those a bit, then the dark switch would be used. If you have dark humbuckers that need to be brightened, then you’d use the bright switch.

By keeping the clean blend of the original, your original signal to be blended in so you can get all the benefits of a great compressor (picking up the notes that aren’t as strong and increasing sustain) but you have the option to remove the squash at the front by bringing the bypassed signal in. With this control, you can have full country squash or open studio level parallel compression. Basically, the Mini Ego gives you complete control of every aspect of your compression.
