A stripped back version of its bigger brother, the Big Chill, but with all the same fruity trem character. The Chill recreates those legendary Fender amp dynamic tremolo sounds in a single pedal format.

This is a stompbox for tone purists after a straight-to-the-point piece of kit. No messing around, just a vintage, dynamic effect with minimal effort. Control the sinewave trem with speed and depth, or set them both to zero and use the level control as a completely clean boost.

Here’s what Jam Pedals say about the Chill:

Plug your guitar into this no-frills analog sine-wave tremolo, dial in your settings and enjoy lush tremolo sounds like those found in vintage Fender® Amps!

The Chill is built with carbon comp resistors and as such it can also produce a warm and harmonically rich boost of your sound by setting the Depth control to 0, and adjusting the Level to your preference.

Be it Spaghetti-Western and Surf sounds or slow and mellow amplitude modulation, the sky is the limit!

ARTISTS QUOTES

“The Chill is a neat little pedal, a clear, quiet, old-fashioned sound with control over the overall level. JAM pedals did a good job!” – Adrian Legg

Tremolo & Vibrato Pedals

Tremolo varies amplitude, making volume rise and fall; vibrato varies pitch, making the note move sharp and flat. Some circuits combine both or derive them from modulation systems that blur the boundary. Rate, depth, waveform and stereo phase determine whether the motion is smooth, pulsing, choppy, seasick or spatial, while tap tempo can lock the cycle to a rhythm.

Analogue

The signal is shaped by continuously varying electronic circuitry rather than being converted into a digital effect algorithm. Component choice, operating voltage and circuit tolerances influence headroom, noise, clipping texture and the small variations in response between designs.

Battery Powered

Can operate from an internal replaceable battery, usually with different available current and running time from an external supply. Battery chemistry, access and automatic disconnection through the input socket affect practical runtime and storage. High-current digital processing generally shortens battery life more sharply than a simple analogue circuit.

DIY Kit

Supplied as components and hardware to be assembled into a working pedal. Circuit complexity, board layout, enclosure preparation and off-board wiring set the difficulty, while accurate component values, polarity and solder joints determine the final noise, reliability and sound.

True Bypass

Connects input directly to output through mechanical or relay switching when the effect is off, removing the active circuit from the audio path. It avoids buffer colour but leaves cable capacitance and switching design to influence high-frequency loss and possible switching noise.
