Hailing from Japan, Animals Pedals boast some of the quirkiest effects in the business! Featuring custom illustrated graphics and some truly memorable product names, the Animals Pedals range has something for everyone. Better still, Animals Pedals are solidly built using quality components, all the while remaining at a price point that is accessible to the average musician.

The Animals Pedals Surfing Bear Bass Overdrive is inspired by the classic valve bass amps of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Based on Animal Pedals’ popular Surfing Bear Overdrive for guitar, this bass specific version was designed in collaboration with Björn Juhl from BJFe, and is loaded with an array of hard-hitting overdrive tones!

The Surfing Bear Bass responds dynamically to your playing style. Play gently with your fingers and you’ll be rewarded with a rich, almost clean tone. Dig in harder, or with a pick and you’ll get some gritty, bone-rattling break up! The choice is up to you! Controls for Volume, Gain and Tone put a host of tone shaping options at your feet and with true-bypass switching, you can rest easy in the knowledge that your dry signal will not be affected when the pedal is bypassed!

Overdrive pedals add warmth, grit and amplifier-like breakup to your guitar tone. They can be used as a light always-on tone enhancer, a bluesy crunch box, a mid-focused solo boost or a way to push a valve amp into richer saturation.

Different overdrive circuits have very different personalities, from transparent low-gain pedals to classic mid-hump designs and heavier modern drives. They are one of the most important pedal types because they respond to picking dynamics, guitar volume and the character of your amplifier.
