Description

The Victory V4 ‘The Jack’ Preamp Pedal is in New condition and made by Victory , it is just a great Pedal Preamp Jack’ ‘The V4 Victory Guitar Effect Pedal-

In its short history, Victory has become one of the UK's leading amplifier brands. Known for its portable lunchbox-style amp heads, the forward-thinking company has made its first step into the pedal world with its V4 series of preamp pedals.

The V4 Design

Taking the sounds of its most popular amp head designs, these fully-analogue, valve-driven V4 stompboxes from Victory can convincingly emulate their full-fledged counterparts. Powered by three CV4014 valves and a single EC900, that genuine tube amp feel and sound is captured.

Boasting two channels and multiple controls for flexible tone-shaping, a Victory V4 preamp pedal can become the centrepiece of your guitar rig. Enclosed within compact steel chassis', you can easily mount these potent-sounding powerhouses to your pedalboard so that your core sounds are literally at your feet!

A Jack Of All Trades!

Victory's 'The Jack' preamp pedal is just one of the several V4 models available, but it is arguably the most versatile. Formerly known as 'The Countess', this unit's new name more suitably signifies its tonal flexibility. With clean and overdrive modes, this stompbox faithfully imitates the tones of Victory's flagship amplifier (which has also been re-named) – stretching from chimey cleans to high-gain British-voiced distortion.

With a wide frequency response, the V4 'The Jack' pedal has an open and dynamic feel, allowing your playing articulation to shine though beautifully. With the original Countess amp developed alongside guitar virtuoso Guthrie Govan, the V4 'The Jack' preamp can cope with even the most eclectic of playing and musical styles – making it an all-encompassing unit.

Flexible Controls

Much like the amp version of 'The Jack', the V4 preamp pedal features a similar control-set for excellent usability. With a typical 3-band EQ section, the V4 'The Jack' also boasts a bright switch that allows you to tailor the top-end frequencies. This means that if you're using the pedal in conjunction with a dark-sounding amplifier, you can compensate via this thoughtful appointment.

With the ability to switch between two channels via a dedicated footswitch, you can set the amount of gain for each of these modes with the Vol 1 and 2 knobs. Giving you two separate voices, this means that you can essentially create a 3-channel setup when running the V4 into a clean amplifier – with clean, rhythm and lead sounds. You can also control the volumes of these modes via the Master 1 and 2 controls, meaning that you can set one of them louder than the other for a solo boost.

Guitar Effect Pedal

A guitar pedal, also known as an effects pedal, is a device used by guitarists to alter the sound of their instrument in various ways. These pedals are typically small, foot-operated units that are connected in a signal chain between the guitar and the amplifier. They can modify the guitar’s tone, pitch, and dynamics by applying different effects such as distortion, reverb, delay, chorus, and more. Guitar pedals come in both analog and digital formats, and they allow musicians to create a wide range of sounds, enhancing their musical expression and creativity. They are essential tools for guitarists in genres ranging from rock and blues to jazz and electronic music.

Pedal

A pedal is an electronic device that alters the sound of an electric guitar by applying various effects. Pedals are typically connected in a series between the guitar and amplifier, allowing guitarists to switch effects on and off with their feet while playing.

This enables musicians to quickly and easily change their sound, adding versatility and creativity to their performances.

Pedals are essential tools in many musical genres, including rock, blues, jazz, and metal, allowing artists to craft distinctive and dynamic soundscapes.

Once you buy one, you can’t stop and then you have to sell them and buy more.

Preamp

A preamp, short for preamplifier, is an electronic device used to amplify weak signals from guitars, microphones, or other audio sources before they are sent to a power amplifier or recording device. Preamps serve several important functions in audio systems:

1. **Signal Boosting**: The primary function of a preamp is to increase the level of weak signals to line level, which is the standard level used in audio equipment. This boost ensures that the signal remains strong and clear throughout the audio chain, minimizing noise and distortion.

2. **Tone Shaping**: Many preamps feature tone controls such as EQ (equalization) knobs or switches, which allow users to adjust the frequency response of the signal. This can include boosting or cutting specific frequencies to tailor the tone to the desired sound.

3. **Impedance Matching**: Preamps often include input and output impedance controls to match the impedance of the source device (e.g., a guitar pickup) with the impedance of the connected equipment (e.g., an amplifier or mixer). Proper impedance matching ensures optimal signal transfer and prevents signal degradation.

4. **Coloration and Character**: Some preamps are designed to impart a specific sonic character or coloration to the signal, adding warmth, richness, or saturation. This can be achieved through the use of vacuum tubes, transformers, or other analog components known for their unique sonic characteristics.

5. **Gain Staging**: Preamps play a crucial role in gain staging, which involves managing the levels of audio signals at each stage of the signal chain to optimize signal-to-noise ratio and prevent distortion. By adjusting the gain or volume controls on the preamp, users can control the overall level of the signal before it reaches subsequent stages of processing or amplification.

6. **Phantom Power**: Many preamps provide phantom power, which is required to power condenser microphones and certain active DI (direct input) boxes. Phantom power is typically supplied at +48 volts and is transmitted through the microphone cable to power the microphone or DI box.

Preamps are commonly found in a variety of audio equipment, including guitar amplifiers, mixing consoles, recording interfaces, and standalone preamp units. They are essential for ensuring clean, clear, and balanced audio signals in both live sound reinforcement and studio recording applications. Additionally, dedicated guitar preamps are available as standalone units or built into amplifiers, offering guitarists additional control over their tone and signal chain.
