The internal voltage doubler allows the pedal to operate at 18V which bumps up the clean headroom and provides a fuller frequency response than the typical 808 circuit; no characteristic mid-hump! This gives the pedal the transparent feel that many TS-variants lack and bolster its versatility as it can go from subtle clean overdrive to full-blown thick distortion. The clever bit is that even though the pedal operates on 18V it is still powered by a standard 9V battery or power supply so is super easy to add to any existing pedalboard or setup. . Available from Just Pedals for only £ 179 Transparent overdrive With the range of overdrive tones available the Maxon OD820 Overdrive Pro Pedal keeps the controls simple to make it remarkably easy dialling in whatever overdriven tone you require. The dual-ganged Drive control blends clean and dirty tones delivering stunning clean boost at lower settings and a creamy light overdrive at high noon. Max it out for a full-bodied crunchy overdrive that’s thick and saturated while still retaining clarity. After the JFET input buffer the signal is sent to the dual-gang Drive pot where it is split between a clean gain stage and the overdrive stage. As the Drive knob is turned up more signal is sent to the overdrive stage while the drive of this stage is also turned up. If the Drive knob is turned down more signal is sent to the clean gain stage and the drive of the overdrive stage is turned down. At 12 o’clock on the Drive knob signal is split 50/50 clean/overdriven. This is the secret to the increased transparency and added versatility. Guitar Effect Pedal
A guitar pedal, also known as an effects pedal, is a device used by guitarists to alter the sound of their instrument in various ways. These pedals are typically small, foot-operated units that are connected in a signal chain between the guitar and the amplifier. They can modify the guitar’s tone, pitch, and dynamics by applying different effects such as distortion, reverb, delay, chorus, and more. Guitar pedals come in both analog and digital formats, and they allow musicians to create a wide range of sounds, enhancing their musical expression and creativity. They are essential tools for guitarists in genres ranging from rock and blues to jazz and electronic music.

Overdrive
Overdrive is a popular guitar effect that creates a warm, distorted sound by amplifying the signal of an electric guitar, typically using a pedal or an amp’s built-in circuit. The effect simulates the natural distortion that occurs when a tube amplifier is pushed to its limit, creating a rich, harmonic response that adds sustain, warmth, and character to the tone. Overdrive pedals are commonly used to add grit and growl to a clean tone without the harshness of full distortion.
The overdrive effect works by boosting the input signal, causing the amplifier to break up and clip the waveform, resulting in a smooth, musical distortion. This is often more subtle and less aggressive than other forms of distortion, making overdrive pedals ideal for blues, classic rock, and country players who seek a dynamic sound that responds to their playing touch. Overdrive pedals can be used in conjunction with other effects like delay and reverb to shape a more complex, evolving sound. Popular overdrive pedals include the Ibanez Tube Screamer, the Fulltone OCD, and the Boss OD-3, each offering different tonal characteristics, from smooth and bluesy to punchy and aggressive.
Pedal
A pedal is an electronic device that alters the sound of an electric guitar by applying various effects. Pedals are typically connected in a series between the guitar and amplifier, allowing guitarists to switch effects on and off with their feet while playing.
This enables musicians to quickly and easily change their sound, adding versatility and creativity to their performances.
Pedals are essential tools in many musical genres, including rock, blues, jazz, and metal, allowing artists to craft distinctive and dynamic soundscapes.

Improved circuitry featuring the JRC4558 IC yields the ultra-smooth, creamy, dynamic overdrive so sought after by guitarists. Overdrive and output level controls adjust the intensity of overdrive and output volume, while the Hi Boost/Hi Cut Tone control adjusts the brightness from warm and smooth to sizzling hot. While the M-OD808 may have been the first overdrive circuit of its kind, it was the OD-9 that cemented this sound in the history of Rock & Roll guitar Looking at the OD-9's circuit, you'll realize that this is not some redesign being cleverly marketed as a reissue – this is THE original OD-9 (TS-9) circuit, yet with the addition of true bypass switching Even the PC board is the same one that Maxon has been using for the past 30+ years, complete with empty slots where parts for the FET switching circuit have been left out!
A favorite overdrive pedal among many popular artists, such as Adam D of Killswitch Engage, Nick Hipa from As I Lay Dying, Metal Mike from Halford and the list goes on Offers the smooth, natural overdrive of a full-up tube amplifier in a compact pedal Incredibly dynamic, the Maxon OD808 pedal responds precisely to playing nuances and allows your instrument's natural tone to shine through Identical to the original circuit and featuring the JRC4558 IC chip
Modified version of classic OD808 Overdrive Extended frequency response improves note definition and clarity Increased Output (+5 dB over OD808) for extra Volume Boost Harder clipping yields more aggressive, amp-like Distortion Buffered Bypass Switching
Updated Reissue of 1980’s Super Tube Screamer Circuit Based on classic OD-9/OD808 Dedicated Midrange knob to dial in amount of mid boost Low Boost Switch adds low end punch – great for single coils 9-volt or 18-volt regulated operation (switchable)
