The Ditto looper is one of the pedals that launched a whole new kind of performance. Two Loops Are Better Than One
With one looper you are kind of limited if you want to go back and remove previous layers without getting rid of later layers. With the X4 you can layer in two different areas having loop 1 for your percussion and bass while the second loop can be used for your chords and lead lines. You can also take advantage of the decay control to remove older layers as you need new ones.
Timing Effects
One of the things they introduced with some of the larger Ditto loopers is the FX module. This gave you several options to customise your sound live one the fly thanks to the momentary switch.
