Pickup

A guitar pickup is a device installed on an electric or acoustic guitar that captures the vibrations of the strings and converts them into an electrical signal. This signal can then be amplified and processed to produce sound through an amplifier. Pickups are essential for electric guitars, as they do not produce much sound acoustically and rely on pickups to be heard at performance levels. There are several types of guitar pickups, each with unique characteristics:

Single-Coil Pickups, Humbucker Pickups, P90 Pickups,  Acoustic Pickups

A pickup plays a significant role in shaping the tone and character of a guitar, allowing musicians to select pickups that best suit their playing style and genre preferences.

Synthesizer

A synthesiser effect pedal transforms a guitar’s signal into synth-like tones by generating or modifying waveforms using oscillators, filters, and modulation. Unlike traditional distortion or modulation effects, synth pedals create entirely new sounds, often mimicking analogue or digital synthesisers. Some pedals track the pitch of the guitar and generate square, saw, or sine waves, while others apply envelope filtering, resonance, or sample-based synthesis to reshape the tone. Synth effects can produce deep bass drones, laser-like leads, or glitchy, robotic textures. Popular synth pedals include the Electro-Harmonix Synth9, Boss SY-1, and Meris Enzo, offering guitarists a way to explore electronic and experimental sounds without needing a keyboard.
