Brand

Ampeg

Yamaha Guitar Group, Inc. (YGG) acquired the Ampeg brand in 2018—bringing it under the same roof as Yamaha basses/guitars/amplifiers and digital innovators Line 6. Honouring 70+ years of celebrated Ampeg history and the 50th anniversary of the amplifier that put Ampeg on the rock ‘n’ roll map, the first thing developed by YGG was the Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT, a product that quickly became one of the most requested amplifiers amongst touring artists and backline companies.

Category

Preamp & DI Pedals

Preamp and DI pedals condition an instrument signal before it reaches an amplifier, power amp, interface, mixer or PA. They may provide gain, EQ, compression, speaker or cabinet filtering, impedance matching, balanced output and ground isolation, with acoustic, bass and electric-guitar models making different assumptions about the source. The central question is where the pedal sits in the rig: a preamp into an amp input is not the same as a direct box into a console. Check headroom, phantom-power behaviour, cab simulation and output level before committing to the routing.

Tags

Bass

Designed or voiced to retain low-frequency information and headroom with bass guitar or other low-register sources. Controls may centre on clean blend, low-end EQ, compression or drive.

Cab Simulator

Applies speaker and cabinet filtering, often from an impulse response or modelled curve, to make a direct signal behave more like a miked cabinet. Useful into interfaces, mixers and headphones.

IR Loader

Loads impulse responses to reproduce measured cabinet, microphone or other acoustic responses. It shapes a direct signal after amp or preamp processing; file format, sample rate, memory and routing vary.
