And in particular – the 1973 Rams Head. Heard in countless recordings and live performances the Rams Head has been a favourite for a plethora of top-tier guitarists. Most notably David Gilmour. Why? Because it excels at producing sweet fuzz tones with immense clarity (can be heard all over Animals & The Wall). So naturally its recreation here remains faithful to the original design. Violet The early Big Muffs varied wildly as with each production run components changed so even with the same variants two models could sound radically different. Consistency was important with this recreation and so EHX focused on the Violet models distinguishable by their blue/purple typeface. These had less of a mid-scoop and slightly less gain than other V2s helping them be more expressive and open- hence why Gilmour favoured them.
